–        Same NEWS FOR 2017. I have assembled teams of experienced runners that will be marking the course.  2014 and 2015, 2016 was our best years for course marking, myself, the Jarvis’s and Bob Luther go to extreme to make sure that this race is one of the best marked trail races around. I have never ran a trail run that has as many markers as this race. There are painted KT markings on roads and over 2000 new flag ground markings- We will have more volunteers at crucial areas.  We will also be repainting normal KT trail markers thats on basically every other tree.

–         Finish line will finish in the amphitheater/Post Race Meal will be at the Shelter beside amphitheator

–         50K finishers will receive a special KT medal designed only for the race.

25K course information

The 25K runners will start with the 10K runners and remain on the KT until they reach the top of Cannan Lands. From this point you will follow an old trail called the Adahi. The Adahi will bring you back into the backside of camp where you will run down along the river to finish the sameway that the 50Ks finish. Remember your Bib is Orange so follow the Orange Flagging.  I can tell you from experience it is an absolutely awesome course. Very challenging but awesome.

10K Runners Update

Important: 10K Same Day registrations will only be at the Boyscout Camp until the shuttle leaves for the start at 8:45 we will not take registrations at the start line. Thank you

10K Race Description

For those runners not riding the shuttle, the Starting Line is on the bridge at Linville just off of Rt. 60. You will run thru Linmount community and come out on  west mudriver road and make a right. You will then see a underpass that goes under I-64, you can see lowe’s across the river.  When you get to the end of that road you will make a right onto wildcat where you will see the kanawha trace markers on the trees. Here you will have your first Aid Station this is just a little over a mile at this point.  Your looking for a 1inch white block with a yellow 3inch middle block with a white 1inch block on bottom. The trail head is at the beginning of this road on your right. From here you follow the markers until  you almost reach williams shelter on a trail called laurel branch you will make a right over a three board bridge, at the top of this hill you will make a left on the gravel road followed by your next right.  This path will bring you beside the camp pool into a campground where there is a switchback that comes down behind the pond where the boats are. Next you follow the trail around the pond into the amphitheater for the finish. I know it sounds difficult, but the whole course is very well marked and makes it nearly impossible to get lost. Thank you, looking forward to the race. See you soon. I have attached a map showing you the road section where it starts to the begining of the trail head.
