Welcome to the 7th Annual Kanawha Trace 50K/25K/ and 10K Trail Run. This race will take place in Ona, West Virginia on August  5th, 2017.  People will travel from many different states to participate in this race.  The 50K and 25K race is set to cap out this year at 100 runners in each race. The 10K is unlimited runners and includes same day registration. All three courses are Point to Point trail races with one common finish at the Boyscout Camp in Ona, WV.  There is a Kids fun run on August 4th as well as the pasta dinner for all particpants.  The KT runs through 3 counties in WV, which many parts are old bison and Indian trails. It began in 1962 from one scouts dream, Charlie Dundas of connecting these trails and creating a journey, it has been maintained by the scouts since. This race has a variety of terrain for every trail runner, it is mainly made up of 26 miles of single track trails and around 5 miles of country dirt roads. Reason: All proceeds of this event go towards the upgrades and maintence of the KT Trail.  The Boy Scouts and Scout Troop leaders will be heavily involved in preparing the trails to transform this hiking trail into a running course.  This race is sponsored by the West Virginia Mountain Trail Runners to help make this a truly epic event. Thank you for helping make a difference in our community.

Location: Race transportation shuttles to the start of the 50k /25k and 10k along with the finish and awards will take place at the Camp Arrowhead Scout Camp in Ona, WV. See Course Information for a way to detailed, but interesting, course description.

Limitations/Restrictions: The 50K time limit to successfully complete the entire course is 10 hours. There will be a cut-off point near the halfway mark. Further explanation and details will be provided during the pre-course instruction meeting on Friday August 4th at 7 pm.

Race Cap-100 runners per race for 50K/25K. 10K is unlimited entries.

Entry fee for the KT50K is $65 if postmarked by 3/31/17 after is $75 if postmarked by 5/31/2017 and  $85 thereafter. KT50K registration will close on 7/30/17. North Face Tech shirts for this race is in men’s and women’s sizing.

Entry fee for the KT10K is $25 if postmarked by 08/04/17 and $30 on Race day.  Sameday regestration will not be guarantee transportation shuttle to the start.  Tech shirts for this race is in men’s and women’s sizing.

Entry fee for Kids run is Free. Donations will be accepted.  Run will take place on Friday, August 4th, 2016. Kids Registration will start at 5:30.

Refunds: For the 50k/25k race only, an entry refund minus $10 may be requested up to 6/01/17. No refunds after that date. There are no refunds for the 10k.

Packet Pick-up: Packets will be available for pick-up between 5:30 and 9:00PM August 4th at the Pre-Race Pasta Dinner located at the Shelter beside the amphitheater at the Boy Scout Camp.

Pre-Race Meals: Friday, August 4th from 6:00-8:30 pm. Dinner is included for registered runners.  Guest tickets are $5 (kids 5 and under free).  Menu – Spaghetti w/Meat Sauce, Veggie Lasagna, Tossed Salad, Rolls & Butter, Cookies, Tea, Coffee, Soda. Pre-Pasta dinner will be at the shelter beside the amphitheater by the lake.

IMPORTANT: Course Instruction Meeting for all 50K/25K participants will begin at 7 pm, Friday July 29th at the amphitheater.

Post-Race Meal: Saturday starts between 3:30 to 6:00. Dinner is included for 50K/25K registered runners.
Guest Tickets will be $10 dollars. Menu – A MEAL YOU WILL NOT WANT TO MISS.

50K Aid Stations: There are 6 aid stations. Station 1 will only have water and sports drink and a light mix of supplies. Stations 2 thru 6 will be a mix of ultra-run cuisine such as; pbj, fruit, cookies, pretzels, chips,  candy, salt, Coke, Mt Dew and more. See Course Maps for Aid Station locations. Each aid station is spaced approximately 5 miles apart.

25K Aid Stations: Will be the same cuisine as the 50K, with 3 aid stations(1 water, 2 stocked).

10K Aid Stations: There are 2 aid stations at mile 2 and 5. Planning on trying to add an aid station at mile 3 this year for 2017.

50K Drop Bags: Drop bags will be collected at the Start and be available at Aid Station #4, mile 14.6 at Barkers Ridge. Label your bag with name and bib number.

50K-START: Shuttle busses will depart Boy Scout Camp for 50k racers at 6:15 am for the 30 min trip to the start. The race starts at 7:30am. The start begins near Frasier’s Bottom on old Rt. 35 at the Tasty Blend Factory.  All runners must check-in with the race director Saturday morning before loading the shuttle to the start.  There will be no shuttle service back to the start after the race. If you have family or crew driving you to the start, please indicate so on the Entry Form.

25K and 10K-START: Shuttle busses will depart Boy Scout Camp for 25k and 10k racers at 8:45am for the 10 min trip to the start. The race starts at 9:30am. The start begins on the bridge at Linmont Road, just off of Rt. 60.  All runners must check-in with the race director Saturday morning at the start.  There will be no shuttle service back to the start after the race. If you have family or crew driving you to the start, please indicate so on the Entry Form.

50K Crew, Family, Spectators:   All are welcome at the Start, but please park out of the way of runners and busses. This will be discussed Friday evening. The best place to meet your runner is Aid #4 or #5. Here runners have completed the tougher first half and support will be appreciated.  Other locations are available, but are several miles from major highway. If you have any special needs please let me know. Direction to Start and Aid Station 4 &5.

The Finish: Finish is back at Camp Arrowhead Boy Scout.  Showers are available.

Finishing Award: First 100 runners completing the 50K course in the 10 hour time limit will be guaranteed a finisher award.

50K Awards and Prizes: Awards will be presented to the Top Five Overall Male and Female finishers,  the 1st  Place Masters 40-49,  1st Place Grand Masters 50-59, and 1st Place Super Masters 60 and over for both Male and Female. No duplicate awards. Awards will be given out as runners finish.

25K Awards and Prizes ​: Awards will be presented to the Top Five Overall Male and Femaile finishers, the 1st Place Masters 40-49, 1st Place Grand Masters 50-59, and 1st Place Super Masters 60 and over for both Male and Female. No duplicat awards. Awards will be given out as runners finish.

10K Awards and Prizes:  Awards will be presented to the Top Three Overall Male and Female, also Top Three Overall Male and Female in each age division.
